He earned his B.A. and M.A. from Middlebury College, and his M.F.A. from the University of New Hampshire.
Dean Rader has written, edited, or co-edited eleven books. His debut collection of poems, Works & Days, won the 2010 T. S. Eliot Poetry Prize and Landscape Portrait Figure Form (2014) was named by The Barnes & Noble Review as a Best Poetry Book. Recent poems have appeared in The New York Times, Best American Poetry, Ploughshares, Kenyon Review, and many others. Her poems have appeared in a wide range of anthologies and literary magazines, including Best American Poetry 2015, POETRY, Tin House, Kenyon Review, and more. Hi, my father was an internationally recognized scientist, who wrote poetry on the side. He died 9 years ago. He typed out 40 poems, but had over 80 additional handwritten poems, some with multiple versions. His handwritten versions were often juicier. These poems really shed light on the man behind the science.
